From Hardship to Hero: The Inspiring Journey of Angel Pino

In the latest episode of the Stories to Create Podcast, I had the privilege of sitting down with a remarkable human being—Angel Pino. His story is one that moves you to reflect, dig deep, and find strength in the face of adversity. Born in New York City on October 14, 1990, Angel’s life reads like a movie script—complete with unexpected turns, profound transformation, and a triumphant rise to success.

Angel’s journey began with a childhood that was far from easy yet deeply shaped by love. Through the Fresh Air Fund program, he spent summers with a Mennonite family in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania—a family that didn’t just host him, but helped mold him. They instilled values like respect, the importance of family, appreciation for nature, and a deep sense of gratitude. When his mother fell ill due to an accident, this bond grew even stronger, becoming a second foundation in his life.

At just 17 years old, Angel joined the Army National Guard, committed to serving his country and supporting his family. While the military gave him structure, it also introduced new challenges, especially when trying to balance civilian life. After relocating to Florida in 2009 to join his brother, he faced a series of crushing setbacks—losing jobs due to out-of-state drill commitments and even losing three cars in a single year. But rather than give up, Angel chose to build something better.

That turning point came in the cleaning industry. Starting as a franchisee, he quickly realized the financial constraints of that model. So he pivoted—turning away from dependency and toward entrepreneurship. He began managing his operations independently, showing the kind of initiative that separates dreamers from doers.

But success didn’t come easy. In 2011, Angel was arrested and spent two and a half months in jail over an incident that stemmed from a youthful mistake. Though the charges were dropped by the involved party, the state pursued them, hoping to “set an example.” This moment could’ve broken him—but instead, it became a defining chapter of growth and resilience.

After serving in Afghanistan in 2012, Angel returned home to more personal and financial turmoil. Denied housing due to his arrest record, he faced homelessness. For four months, he lived in his car, working three jobs while still fulfilling his military duties. He had every reason to give up—but he didn’t.

In 2013, Angel entered the security industry, earning just $12/hour. Yet, over the next seven years, through pure perseverance and an unbreakable work ethic, he rose to become Vice President of the company. And in 2022, he fulfilled a lifelong dream—purchasing the business and becoming CEO of Global Security.

Angel Pino’s story is not just one of survival—it’s one of purpose. It’s about the grit to keep going when life seems impossible, the courage to bet on yourself, and the faith that better days are ahead, even when you can’t see them yet.
