From Grinich Farm to Poetz Realm: The Journey of Ernel Grant
In this week’s episode of the Stories to Create Podcast, I had the honor of sitting down with a creative powerhouse whose journey is as dynamic as his vision. Ernel Grant—a digital creator, entrepreneur, and the heart behind Poetz Realm—joined me to share his remarkable story of transformation, creativity, and resilience.
Born in the vibrant heart of Kingston, Jamaica, Ernel spent his early childhood in Grinich Farm, a place that shaped his worldview and ignited his curiosity. At 14, he migrated to Hartford, Connecticut, a drastic shift that exposed him to new cultures and experiences. It was here that he found an early passion for breakdancing, a movement that would later evolve into a deep love for the arts in all its forms.
After graduating from Hartford Public High School, Ernel went on to study at Eastern Connecticut State University, where he broadened his understanding of media, technology, and expression. Post-college, he entered the IT and mobile sales world, gaining valuable experience in communication and innovation. His career took him to Gartner, one of the leading research and advisory companies, and this opportunity would ultimately lead him to Lehigh Acres, Florida.
But Ernel didn’t just move for work—he moved for purpose. Once in Florida, he continued building on his passion project: Poetz Realm, a safe haven and open stage for artists, poets, and creatives from all walks of life. Through live performances, community events, and digital storytelling, Ernel created a movement that empowers voices that often go unheard.
In our conversation, Ernel spoke with passion and purpose about the power of art, the strength of the Caribbean diaspora, and the importance of finding community wherever you are. His story is a testament to the beauty of migration, growth, and never letting go of your creative core.
Whether you’re an artist, entrepreneur, or someone searching for a deeper connection to purpose—this episode will leave you inspired.
